Intro to Kayaking II

A more intensive session where you learn
to paddle the faster, but less stable,
flatwater kayak
Offered: 7-9pm, every Tuesday or Thursday,

Cost: $30.00
Summer Kayak-Sport Camp
One week camps run 9am-4pm Mon-Friday
Teaches kids ages 10-14 the fundamentals
of paddling in canoes, kayaks, dragon boats
& war canoes

Youth Summer Program
Participants enjoy hanging out with their
friends at our boathouse during July &
August while enjoying on-water
activities
• have the flexibility of participating In our
summer day camps (offered selected
weeks during July & August), evening
paddling sessions on Tuesday and
Thursdays, plus those with a competitive
streak may be invited to additional daily
training sessions In Winnipeg
• emphasis on:
- proper stroke technique
- advancement in skills
- development of fitness
- participation in local races
- team-building & camaraderie
Camps run selected weeks In July & August:
Evening practices on Tuesdays & Thursdays 7-9
Additional Competitive practices in Winnipeg
Cost: $200.00 the season
Competitive Program
Advanced program for competitive
youth – leads to Provincial Team
• practices take place at the Provincial
Team Training Center in Winnipeg
Offered: year-round
5-12 Practices/wk -scheduled by Coach
COST: $400/yr or $300 for May-October
Adult Summer Program
Loosely structured evening activities
• participants can enjoy the freedom of
solo paddling or social group activities in
kayaks, canoes, or dragon boat
• instructors facilitate group activities and
provide assistance to the individual
Offered Continuously May-August:
Tuesday & Thursday evenings, 7-9pm
COST: $ 200.00 for May-September
$65 for 5 sessions
Neighbourhood Dragon Boat Night
Individuals or groups can sign up for our
Thursday Night Dragon Boat Night
• participants are quickly formed into a
team and head out on the water for a
session to improve paddling skills and fitness
for dragon boat events
• beginners are welcome - a great way to
have fun & meet others!
COST: $100/individual per season (includes
entry fee for River City Dragon Boat Festival)
or drop in for $10/person per practice
Offered June -Sept : Thursdays 8-9pm
Competitive Dragon Boat Programs
More advanced programs for dragon
boat enthusiasts with a focus on fitness & skill
development
• available to both groups & individuals
through the Manitoba Paddling Association
COST & Schedule: varies with program,
based in Winnipeg, unless a full team wishes
to register
