MPA Dragon Boat Program Information

The Dragon Boat Program is essential to the competitve development of the sport of Dragon Boat Racing. Dragon Boat racing's popularity has defined a need to develop the competitve side. The Manitoba Paddling Association wants to take a leadership role in this development and has thus created a membership program to develop the sport at all levels as displayed in the information below.

Neighborhood Dragon Boat Program
Individuals or teams meet at the club once a week to learn more about and practice DB racing.
1 practice per week
Monday evenings 8 - 9
$100 per person
June to Sept

Competitive Dragon Boat Program
Individuals or teams that want to practice more and be more competitive at DB festivals
2 practices per week
Monday and Thursday evenings 7 - 8 (teams can have other days and times)
$200 per person - includes entry fees to 2 MPA Festivals if team is made up program members
May to Oct

Premier/Elite Dragon Boat Program
Individuals who are experienced paddlers and want to commit to a more rigorous training schedule and compete at National and International races
3 DB practices per week PLUS access to Club; canoes and kayaks and gym for additional training
Monday and Thursday evenings 7 - 8 with Competitive Program, 3rd practice tbd
$300 per person - includes entry fees to 2 MPA Festivals if team is made up of program members
Year around membership

Note: You can pay for and have all the benefits of a premier program membership without having to commit to all the training, in other words, if you are not interested in being a competitive paddler but want to use the Club facilities and equipment.
Notes

1) All of these programs will have level appropriate coaching provided
2) Individuals can join any of the programs to become better paddlers but do not have to leave their current team, so can still race with their teams and have the opportunity for additional races on a club team.
