The Manitoba Paddling Association is proud to support local Manitoba Charities through our dragon boat events. Our premier event the River City Dragon Boat Festival is held with pledge proceeds and sponsorship benefiting FortWhyte Alive. Our Wheat City Dragon Boat Races and the Manitoba School Dragon Boat Challenge are in support of KidSport Manitoba. Please read below for more information on these great local Manitoba causes, as well click on the logos to be directed straight to their websites.

The KidSport™ mission is to overcome the financial obstacles that prevent some people from playing sports. Sport's challenges can teach children the value of honesty, practice, hard work, and positive thinking. One hundred percent of the money raised will be directed to Manitoban children participating in organized sports. An allocation from the Fund is based on the written approval of the child's school principal, social worker, or member of the clergy, who has first hand knowledge of his/her circumstances. Since the Fund began in 1993, nearly 2,100 children have had their registration fees subsidized and have played a season of sport that would not otherwise have been possible. |
All pledges received this year will be directed to the Health Sciences Centre Foundation to establish a named award entitled “Manitoba Paddling Association River City Dragon Boat Research Award”. This award will continue annually for a period of three years. Through the Health Sciences Centre annual Grants and Awards Programs, the Health Sciences Centre Foundation seeks to advance and recognize the work of the extraordinary clinicians and researchers at the Health Sciences Centre. The Grants and Award Program support research projects that demonstrate strong scientific merit, and evaluate health outcomes, patient care service delivery, health care management approaches and technology and support promising new investigators.
Please help support this very worthwhile cause!
